Obituary for Linda L. Zachert

Linda L. Zachert, 75, of Aledo, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Unity Point Health Trinity – Rock Island, following a well fought battle to recover from a stroke.

A Memorial Luncheon will be Saturday, September 8, from Noon to 3:00 pm at the Aledo VFW.
The VFW Auxiliary will hold their Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. Her family would love for friends to come share their favorite memories of Linda with them. Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo, is caring for Linda’s family and arrangements.

Memorials may be left to American Stroke Association, Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at

Linda was born January 21, 1943, in Long Beach, CA, the daughter of Stuart Eugene and Miriam Jean Parks Campbell. She grew up in Whittier, CA and moved to Illinois in 1970.

She was a bank administrator while living in California. She also worked for Sentry Insurance as an insurance adjustor. Even in retirement, she couldn’t see herself just sitting around in a rocking chair and was promptly hired by Mercer County Sheriff’s Department as a part-time clerical assistant in 2009. She continued in that position until 2018.

She enjoyed living her life to the fullest and loved her family more than words can say. She was always a cheerful person who loved nothing more than taking care of those she loved. She also enjoyed volunteering at the VFW.

Our hearts broke when she passed. Linda will be greatly missed and forever loved in our hearts.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her daughter, Shelly Zachert of Aledo; son, Daryl Zachert of Clinton, IA; granddaughter, Madison Zachert; sister, Cathy Catlett of Sherrills Ford, NC; nieces, Sheri Stock and Shandra Seim; nephews, John Contant, Brady Stock and Corey Stock; numerous cousins; and her beloved cat, Spice, in whom she found great joy and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shelly and Daryl,
Your Mom was a very special friend of mine. I miss her dearly. We had so much fun on our trips to Anna Maria Island, walking the beach (Oh,the shells we have), floating in the gulf almost daily watching for dolphins, driving to different touristy sights around that area. We had so many laughs to last a lifetime and I weep til we meet again on our beach in heaven.

Shelly I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I met Linda when I worked at American Family and we became friends. Over the years since they closed we got together usually during the summer for various festivals in Davenport. One of our favorite was the Blues Fest. Your mom loved to people watch. I feel bad because we hadn't gotten together over the past couple years with both of us working part time, our schedules never seemed to jive. She was a great lady and a special friend and I will miss her. Condolences to you and your family.

Your mom always treated me as one of her own. She was a loving, generous, amazing woman! I see so much of that in you! I am here if you need me.
Love always,
